Last May, I had the absolute honor of photographing Kassidy & Taylor’s intimate elopement at Government Cove in the Columbia River Gorge — and this wasn’t just any wedding for me. This one was extra special because I didn’t just capture their day… I got ordained to marry them, too!

When I arrived, the Gorge was showing off with its soft spring light and stunning views. Kassidy tucked away into a little pop-up tent to change into her wedding dress, while I grabbed a few portraits of Taylor, who was waiting excitedly nearby. Once she was ready, I positioned him down by the water for their first look — and the moment was pure magic. They shared some quiet time together, just soaking in the fact that this was finally happening.

From there, we wandered around Government Cove, taking in the incredible views and capturing their couple portraits as we went. Every corner of the trail gave us a new backdrop — rugged cliffs, sweeping river views, and pockets of wild greenery that made the perfect setting for their day.

When we rounded the bend to the other side, we stumbled upon a secluded little spot by the trees — the perfect place for their ceremony. I attached my phone to my camera, officiating and photographing at the same time, which felt surreal and incredibly special. Their ceremony was quick, simple, and deeply meaningful, with nothing but the sound of the wind, the river, and their quiet vows between us.

Afterward, we took photos with their witnesses, captured a few more dreamy portraits, and headed back toward the cars. There, we signed the marriage license and officially sealed the deal.

It’s hard to put into words how honored I felt to be part of every piece of this day — not just as their photographer, but as their officiant. Kassidy & Taylor’s elopement was the perfect reminder of what weddings are truly about: love, connection, and creating a day that’s perfectly, beautifully yours.
