Madison & James’s wedding at The Abernethy in Oregon City was an absolute dream — full of sweet emotion, gorgeous details, and so much joy. This venue is one of my all-time favorites, and it was the perfect setting for their beautifully styled day.
When I arrived, we were waiting for the couple to settle into their separate suites and step into their final looks. James got ready with his friends, surrounded by laughter and anticipation, while Madison had a quiet, special moment with her longtime best friend, who helped zip her into her gown. She then revealed her full bridal look to her bridesmaids, and their reactions were so full of love and excitement.
The theme for the day featured stunning blue tones and lush florals — it was classic, elegant, and truly eye-catching. Three of Madison’s bridesmaids wore a lovely green, while her “something blue” came through in the dresses of her other two bridesmaids. The groomsmen tied it all together with floral-patterned ties that perfectly matched the romantic garden vibe.
We set up Madison and James’s first look down on the lawn, with Madison descending the wooden steps as James waited. When he turned around, the emotion on his face said everything. They shared a quiet moment together, followed by couple portraits in the same spot, where the sun filtered softly through the trees. Madison’s veil flowed perfectly in the breeze, and her bouquet was a floral dream.
The wedding party joined us on the lawn for portraits, bringing all the joyful energy and style. We followed that with family photos at the gazebo, which would soon become the ceremony site.
As the ceremony began, all eyes were on Madison as she walked down the aisle — and James’s tear-filled reaction was one of the most emotional moments of the day. Their vow exchange was heartfelt and moving, with both of them fighting back happy tears as they spoke their promises in front of their loved ones.
After the ceremony, guests formed a receiving line leading toward the tent, where they were personally greeted by the newlyweds — such a lovely, intentional touch. The reception kicked off with Madison and James’s first dance under the tent, followed by toasts, parent dances, and one of the more unique touches of the evening: a caricature artist that had guests laughing and lining up for personalized keepsakes.
Before sunset, we snuck away for a few more portraits along the tree-lined path. The evening light was soft and golden — a photographer’s dream — and gave the couple a quiet moment to soak in the day before the party continued.
They ended the night on a packed dance floor, surrounded by their people, and topped it all off with a fun and glowing glow stick exit up the pathway.
It was a perfect day from beginning to end, and I feel so lucky to have captured it all for them.
