Alice and Caleb’s wedding day was the perfect blend of sentimental, laid-back, and beautifully personal — the kind of celebration that reminds you why backyard weddings hold such a special charm. Set in the heart of Canby, Oregon, the entire day was filled with love, laughter, and golden light.

I arrived that afternoon at a cozy family home where the excitement was already building. Inside, the guys were straightening their ties and sharing laughs, while the girls were getting into their dresses. One of my favorite moments of the day happened when Alice’s mom helped her into her wedding gown — a quiet, emotional moment made even more special when she clasped a delicate string of pearls around Alice’s neck.

Alice then stepped out to do a grand reveal for her bridesmaids — a moment full of squeals, hugs, and maybe a few happy tears.

While the ladies put the finishing touches on their look, we headed outside for groomsmen portraits on the lush front lawn. With everyone relaxed and in good spirits, it was the perfect way to start the day’s portraits. Soon after, I positioned Caleb in a shaded spot in the front yard for their first look. Alice approached quietly and told him to turn around — their reactions were everything. Sweet, genuine, and full of love.

We took some time for couple portraits, capturing those first quiet moments together, before inviting the whole wedding party out for group photos. Everyone was in high spirits, and the chemistry between the group made for fun, natural shots.

Then it was time to head to the venue — which just so happened to be Alice’s parents’ backyard. They transformed their home into a truly stunning setting: chairs lined the lawn to form a charming aisle, and soft light filtered through the trees as the couple exchanged vows. It was intimate, beautiful, and uniquely theirs.

After the “I do’s,” we moved to the front lawn for family portraits, followed by a few more romantic shots of Alice and Caleb among the trees. The reception space was decked out in cheerful sunflowers and sweet summer details, setting the perfect tone for the celebration to come.

Guests mingled, laughter filled the yard, and heartfelt toasts brought both tears and smiles. Alice and Caleb shared a traditional cake cutting before stepping onto the back patio for their first dance — a tender moment under the fading summer sky.

Before sunset, we snuck away for more couple portraits on a quiet country road and in a nearby golden field. The light was pure magic. These golden-hour portraits were some of my favorites of the day — soft, warm, and full of love.

As night fell, the patio came alive with dancing and celebration. Surrounded by their closest friends, Alice and Caleb ended their wedding day just the way it began: with joy, connection, and a whole lot of love.
