As a wedding photographer, every celebration I’m invited to document holds a special place in my heart. But there are some weddings that stand out not just because of the stunning venues or picture-perfect moments, but because of the genuine love and warmth that permeates every aspect of the day. Josie and Gabe’s wedding at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse was one such event.
Josie and Gabe aren’t just clients; they’re good friends of mine. So when they asked me to be their photographer for their big day, they made one thing clear: they wanted me to enjoy the celebration as much as they did. And that sentiment set the tone for the entire day.
As I arrived at the picturesque venue, the rain began to fall lightly, adding a touch of romance to the autumn atmosphere. We wasted no time and dived straight into capturing Josie and Gabe’s first look amidst the trees. Those private moments shared between the couple before the ceremony were filled with laughter, love, and a sense of anticipation for the vows they were about to exchange.
With efficiency and creativity, we managed to photograph the entire wedding party before the rain intensified. Despite the weather’s unpredictability, we embraced the fleeting moments of dryness to capture stunning portraits that will forever encapsulate the beauty of that day.
The ceremony itself was a magical affair held in the Octagonal Barn, adorned with twinkling string lights and a rustic wooden backdrop. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, Josie and Gabe exchanged vows that echoed the depth of their commitment to one another.
Following the ceremony, we ventured into the grassy field to capture timeless family portraits, preserving cherished memories for generations to come. Then, it was time to move the festivities to the reception tent just outside the barn.
As dinner was served, heartfelt toasts filled the tent, celebrating the love story of Josie and Gabe. Laughter echoed as friends and family shared their fondest memories and well wishes for the newlyweds.
The evening continued with the cutting of the cake and the sweet indulgence of the gorgeous dessert table. They also had their first dance as husband and wife. Josie shared a touching dance with her father, while Gabe swayed with his mother, each moment brimming with emotion and love.
And then, as the dance floor beckoned, I reluctantly packed away my camera and joined the celebration. It was a night filled with joy, laughter, and the infectious energy of friendship and love.
Late-night snacks kept the energy high as we danced the night away, surrounded by the warmth of friendship and the glow of love.
Being both a guest and a photographer at Josie and Gabe’s wedding was a privilege beyond words. To witness their love story unfold and to capture it through my lens was an honor I’ll always treasure. As I reflect on their special day, I’m reminded once again of the power of love to unite hearts and create moments that will last a lifetime.
