Mackenzie and Justin actually had their wedding venue be the property where they will be building their first home together! It was such a meaningful location for their day and a special way to break the ground of their forever home. The months leading up to the wedding, they put so much effort and time into cleaning it up and turned the property into a beautiful venue for their wedding day. 

Mackenzie and Justin are from my hometown and so we’d actually already met over the years of going to the same high school and college. I was so excited when they asked me to shoot their big day. It was a no brainer I had to be available for their wedding so I adjusted my schedule to capture their wedding day!

They had a few special details throughout the day like the private first look down the road at a neighbors house where they also read their vows to each other. It was a really intimate, emotional moment for the two of them that I got to capture and share from afar. 

We started with the getting ready photos with Mackenzie and the bridesmaids before going with Justin over to the location for the first look. I drove with Justin and then the coordinator drove with Mackenzie to meet us once Justin was in place. After reading their private vows we all drove back to the venue to do group portraits before all of the guests started to arrive for the ceremony. And then after the ceremony we took the couple portraits before moving onto dinner, toasts, sunset photos and dancing. It was such an amazing day with a fun dance party towards the end with all their friends and family. And lastly we ended the night with a glow stick exit!

The photos from their wedding day are upbeat, carefree and romantic. After all of the effort put in planning for the big day, getting the venue ready, Mackenzie and Justin could finally let go and fully enjoy their wedding day with all of their friends and family. There were a lot of emotions so I ensured to capture all of this in the photos. The big smiles and the little tears that fell throughout the day. 

I loved shooting this wedding because you could really see how much work they put into their day from creating the venue and building the space from the ground up (literally). Their family and wedding party were also so helpful and it was a team effort to make the day magical for Mackenzie and Justin. It was many years in the making to celebrate their love story.
