As a wedding photographer, there are certain moments that etch themselves into your memory forever. Emma and Drew’s wedding at Drew’s parents’ house in Oregon City is one such event that I will cherish forever. Their home was miraculously transformed into a magical wedding venue, complete with handmade signs, a sparkling disco ball, and beautifully lined tables across the lush lawn. This was not just another job for me; it was an opportunity to deepen my connection with a couple I had known about for years, making the entire experience incredibly personal and meaningful.

The day began with a whirlwind of joyful preparations. The atmosphere was vibrant as we arrived, ready to capture the candid moments of the couple and their loved ones getting ready. The girls, in their cozy pajamas and matching shoes, sipped champagne and shared laughter while finishing their makeup. Meanwhile, in another room, the guys were engrossed in a heated game of Mario Kart, adding a touch of playful competition to the morning.

One of the most touching moments was Emma’s first look with her dad. The emotion in his eyes as he saw his daughter in her wedding dress was palpable, a reminder of the profound bond they share. Shortly after, Drew’s mom delicately pinned his boutonniere, preparing him for his own heartfelt first look with Emma. We chose a serene spot amidst the trees on their property for this special moment. The love and excitement in their eyes as they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day were simply unforgettable.

The property provided a stunning backdrop for couple portraits. From the enchanting forest and open fields to the meticulously arranged ceremony location, every setting added a unique touch to their love story. We captured an array of photos with the wedding party and family, each frame telling a story of love, joy, and togetherness.

Guests were warmly welcomed with a champagne wall and beautiful signs as they arrived for the ceremony. Despite a sudden rain sprinkle, the ceremony was nothing short of magical. Emma and Drew impressed everyone by memorizing their vows, delivering them with heartfelt emotion that brought tears to many eyes. A unique touch was their decision to sign their marriage license in front of everyone during the ceremony, adding a personal and intimate feel to the proceedings.

The reception was a whirlwind of excitement and celebration. We did a speed round photo session with all the tables, capturing the joyous faces of friends and family. Heartfelt toasts from Emma’s dad, the maid of honors, and the best man filled the yard with laughter and tears. The couple’s first dance was a beautiful moment, a dance of love and commitment.

An unexpected highlight was the arrival of the ice cream truck for dessert, adding a fun and nostalgic touch to the festivities. Despite the rain denying us a sunset, we seized a moment to sneak the couple away for a quick photo session down the property. The natural beauty of the surroundings, even without the golden hues of a sunset, provided a breathtaking backdrop for their love.

The night concluded with lively dancing, the dance floor alive with energy and joy. Emma and Drew’s wedding was a testament to love, creativity, and the power of personal connections.
